Dear Staff and Post-graduate students

Following the promulgation of the Ethics in Health Research: Principles, Processes and Structures (2nd ed) guideline document in June 2015, it has become a requirement for all researchers applying for ethical approval, to provide proof of formal training in research ethics, within a three year cycle. For proof of training when undertaking ethics applications to the NWU-AnimCareREC committee, proof of attendance of the half-day training on “The SANS document as regulation for research with animals” as well as the completion of the Vivarium animal handling training program is required.

The Ethics Office provides one session of training per year on the Potchefstroom campus, the Vanderbijlpark Campus and the Mafikeng Campus. It is requested that all staff and postgraduate students please make use of these opportunities.
