Postgraduate vision

The postgraduate programme falls under two categories: (1) production of specialists through the MMed programme, and (2) research. The School also intends to accredit various speciality programmes in collaboration with the Clinical Training Platform under the North West Department of Health. The specialist programmes are already in place under Wits and will be expanded under the NWU Desmond Tutu School of Medicine to increase the production of specialists across 15 disciplines.

Research is an integral part of the MMed programme. However, the School will spearhead clinical and medical educational research. A strategic plan to achieve this objective is being developed.
