Dr Bertus le Roux is the Business and Operations Manager of the Centre for Health and Human Performance (CHHP). He obtained a Honours Bachelor of Science-degree in Human Movement Sciences (with specialisation in Biokinetics) at the former Potchefstroom University for CHE in 1990 and was registered as a at the SAMDC in 1994. He managed a Biokinetics Clinic for nine years before joining the North-West University, where he first worked as Operational and Logistics Manager and later as Senior Manager: Higher Degree Administration and Ceremonies.

He has been involved in sports event and team management for the past thirty years and acted as team manager of six different national sporting teams, as well as national referee in road running and international referee in triathlons (serving as technical delegate for Athletics South Africa and Triathlon South Africa). He participated in ultra-marathons and triathlons and obtained permanent race numbers in the Two Oceans (13 medals) and Comrades Marathons (11 medals), as well as the former Iron Man Canoe Triathlon (15 medals). He also achieved provincial colours in duathlon and is still a keen mountain biker. He has been a Doping Control Officer at the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) since 1998 and has completed several local, national, and international doping control missions on behalf of SAIDS and the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA).

In 2011 he obtained a Philosophiae Doctor-degree in Relationship Marketing (specialising in Customer Experience Management) from the NWU and has been a study leader for several MBA-students since then. He served on the NWU Senate and Institutional Forum, and is currently a member of the NWU Council, as well as a Councillor at the JB Marks municipality since 2006 (and Chairperson of the Sports, Arts & Culture Oversight Committee).
