AIM

The aim of this study is to develop an integrated ARV programme for pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS to improve GDM outcomes among pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS

 

DESIGN

Implementation research study, which draws on multi-methods study design (Qualitative Exploratory Design + Quantitative Descriptive Design) to address the research question posed.

Focus on both the process and the results of the implementation.

    • Questionnaires (WHO, 2016, stepwise Tool)
    • Interview Schedules with the Women, Professional nurses and Operational Managers at Primary Health Care settings.
    • Focus groups discussions with the expects from the North West Province

 

Objectives

  1. To systematically search literature for effective programmes to support women living with HIV/AIDS and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
  2. To explore and describe the risk factors of GDM among pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS in SA.
  3. To explore and describe the experiences of pregnant women diagnosed with GDM in the context of HIV.
  4. To develop and validate an integrated ARV Programme to improve GDM outcomes among pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS.
