This conference serves as the annual flagship event of the PSSA which unites emerging researchers and expert scientists from across the country and beyond to share their research findings and future aspirations.

The Scientific Committee invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for Oral or Poster presentation from academics, professionals, traditional practitioners, and independent researchers. Postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows are specifically invited to present.

The conference seeks to advance the education, research, and dissemination of Physiology. By sharing a broad range of physiological knowledge, the society aims to contribute to the growth and development of physiological sciences in Southern Africa and across the continent.

Prof Sanette Brits

Welcome!

It is my great pleasure to invite you, on behalf of the Faculty of Health Sciences at North-West University, to join us for the Physiology Society of Southern Africa Conference 2025, taking place from 24 to 27 August 2025 at the beautiful Feather Hill Hotel in Potchefstroom.

This year, our theme is Multidisciplinary Perspectives in Physiology, “From Cells to Societies” — a powerful reminder of the intricate connections between molecular biology, human physiology, and the broader communities we serve.

Through this theme, we aim to explore the full spectrum of physiology, from the microscopic mechanisms within our cells to the societal impacts on health and wellness.

We are preparing an exciting programme that includes cutting-edge research presentations, hands-on workshops, keynote addresses by renowned experts, and ample opportunities for collaboration and professional growth. Whether you're an academic, a healthcare practitioner, a postgraduate student, or simply passionate about the science of life, this conference offers something for you.

We invite you to engage in meaningful discussions, share your knowledge, and be inspired in the scenic and tranquil setting of Potchefstroom. Let’s come together to advance the field of physiology — from cells, to systems, to the societies we strive to impact.

Save the date: 24 to 27 August 2025. We look forward to welcoming you at The Feather Hill Hotel.

Thank you, and we hope to see you there!
