One University, One Province – the North West is ready for the NWU Medical School

Welcome to the North-West University’s Medical School project. This website aims to keep you informed on the progress of the Medical School. The NWU Medical School obtained permission from the Minister of Health on 22 December 2023, Honourable Dr Joe Phaahla, to progress with the Medical School and to adhere to all the required approvals and accreditation requirements. Permission to proceed with establishing the Medical School followed after seven years of preparatory and intensive technical work. On 18 April 2024 Dr Blade Nzimande, honourable Minister of Higher Education, will be informed of the business case for the Medical School. What a journey!
