"It is certainly one of the most enriching tasks to make a contribution to the health of fellow human beings."
Executive Dean's word of welcome:
Dear first year student
Welcome to the Faculty of Health Sciences! We are truly delighted that you have chosen a career dedicated to the wellbeing of others. Few callings are as meaningful as contributing to the health, dignity, and quality of life of fellow human beings. Our Faculty is committed to equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and support you need to thrive, not only academically, but also as a future professional who will make a real, lasting impact.
As you embark on this journey, I encourage you to view the promotion of health and your chosen profession as a purpose worth embracing daily; stay engaged with your community and those around you; approach your studies with consistent, focused effort; strive to live a healthy and balanced life; and lead with humility, integrity, and a willingness to serve.
Your student years should be a time of growth, discovery, and connection. Should you face challenges or uncertainties, please reach out to your lecturers, subject group leaders, or programme leaders, no concern is too small, and we are here to guide and support you.
May the years ahead become some of the most rewarding and memorable of your life. Embrace every opportunity, and enjoy the adventure ahead.
Warm regards in health,
Prof Awie Kotzé
Executive Dean: Faculty of Health Sciences
