Career possibilities
A 2024 survey indicated employability of NWU Occupational Hygiene graduates in South Africa and internationally. Legislation requires employers to employ occupational hygienists or to make use of occupational hygiene consultants. Some of the potential employers may include:
- SASOL
- City councils Industries
- Mining companies (Anglo American, BHP Billiton, Impala Platinum, etc.)
- Eskom
- National Institute for Occupational Health (NIOH)
- CSIR
- Department of Labour (DoL)
- Occupational hygiene consultants
- Approved Inspection Authorities (AIAs).
- There is also a big demand for qualified occupational hygienists internationally
