Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc)

 

 

 

BHSc in Biokinetics

4 years full time

Minimum requirements APS = 32

Maths level 3 OR Maths Literacy level 4

Life sciences OR Physical sciences = level 4

 

This degree enable students to demonstrate critical and creative thinking in the use of science, research and technology with relevant theoretical knowledge (models, theories, etc.) to demonstrate skills and values as entrepreneurs or employees in the field of Biokinetics by means of integrated projects (case studies, scenarios –problem solving) and added capabilities in community involvement.

 

BHSc in Sport coaching and HMS

3 years full time

The minimum NSC APS score for a student wishing to be admitted to the BHSc is 24

Language requirement:  NSC with either 1st or 2nd additional language at least level 4 (50-59%)

Human Movement Sciences entails the science of the human body in movement in relation to physical activity, sport, motor development and physical rehabilitation. The qualification serves for the training and education of exercise trainers, fitness trainers or sports organisers. This qualification further creates the basis for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). After completing the degree, students who meets the minimum requirements can apply for honours in Kinderkinetics. Selection will take place and between 5-8 students will be selected to do their honours in Kinderkinetics.

 

Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc), Recreation

 

3 years full time

Language requirement:  NSC with either 1st or 2nd additional language at least level 4 (50-59%)

 

Specifically, the BHSc with internal programme Recreation and Psychology, aims to:

Enable students to demonstrate critical and creative thinking in the use of science, research and technology with relevant theoretical knowledge (models, theories, etc.) to demonstrate skills and values as entrepreneurs or employees in the field of recreation therapy by means of integrated projects (case studies, scenarios –problem solving) and added capabilities in community involvement.

 

Specifically, the BHSc with internal programme Recreation and Tourism, aims to:

Enable students to demonstrate critical and creative thinking in the use of science, research and technology with relevant theoretical knowledge (models, theories, etc.) to demonstrate skills and values as entrepreneurs or employees in the field of recreation tourism by means of integrated projects (case studies, scenarios –problem solving) and added capabilities in community involvement.

 

Specifically, the BHSc with internal programme Sport and Recreation Administration, aims to:

Enable students to demonstrate critical and creative thinking in the use of science, research and technology with relevant theoretical knowledge (models, theories, etc.) to demonstrate skills and values as entrepreneurs or employees in the field of recreation and sport by means of integrated projects (case studies, scenarios –problem solving) and added capabilities in community involvement.

 

Diploma in Coaching Science

2 years full time

APS 18

At the Potch Campus the diploma is presented in soccer and rugby, and at the Mahikeng Campus in soccer. The diploma is focused on coaching as well as sport management. The diploma enables students to demonstrate skills and theoretical knowledge in coaching by means of practical sessions, integrated projects (case studies, scenarios –problem solving) and added capabilities in community involvement. After completion of the diploma, students can apply to continue to do the degree Bachelor of Health Sciences with sport coaching and human movement sciences. Students must achieve an average of 60% for each year to continue with the degree.
