A functional Medical School requires an appropriate clinical training platform that can ensure students experience a variety of diseases, procedures and technologies. Initially the clinical training platform will be within the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District of the North West and as the Medical School is established and progress, this platform can extend to other districts in the province. NWU Medical School DHS

Strengthening the District Health System (DHS)

Clinical placement of medical students will strengthen the DHS and students will experience Primary Health Care as the foundation of the health system and Family physicians within the DHS will actively contribute to the clinical training of the students. Medical students will be trained to understand the DHS and the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative healthcare services in an accessible, affordable, equitable and integrated manner. NWU Medical School Hospital-based facilities

Hospital-based facilities

Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex is the largest referral hospital in the North West Province. It renders Level I and II services to the Matlosana Region in Dr Kenneth Kaunda and the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati Districts and Level III services to the North West Province.(read more)
