Africa Network for Environmental Social Work and Disaster Management (ANESW)

ANESW

We are delighted to inform you about the launch of the Africa Network for Environmental Social Work and Disaster Management (ANESW) on Wednesday 12 June 2024. Over thirty social work professionals (academics and practitioners) representing different countries in Africa attended the launch meeting. This initiative aims to address the growing environmental and disaster management challenges that social work professionals encounter across Africa.

ANESW is not intended to replace any existing special interest groups within the field of social work. The primary focus of ANESW rather is to foster collaboration among social work professionals, environmental experts, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders. By working together, we aim to develop innovative solutions to the complex challenges that are increasingly becoming central to social work service delivery. We believe that through collective effort, ANESW can become the unified voice of the Global South in addressing environmental social work and disaster management issues.

We are also eager to engage with similar internationals groups/networks as we believe that their expertise and participation will be invaluable in the strive to enhance a collective capacity to expand the knowledge base of environmental social work and disaster management.
