Phamacy Practice

What is Pharmacy Practice?

Pharmacy Practice is the professional pillar of the BPharm curriculum.

It equips students with the competencies to deliver pharmaceutical care, manage medication systems, communicate effectively, and uphold ethical standards in diverse healthcare environments.

Pharmacy practice is the area of pharmacy education that prepares students to apply their knowledge in real-world patient care settings.

It encompasses modules such as:

the patient (understanding the patient's medication and illness experience),

medicine logistics (procurement, storage, and supply of medicines),

communication (effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams),

legislation and regulatory aspects (laws governing medicines and pharmacy practice),

public health (health promotion and disease prevention),

managed health care (health systems and funding structures), and

management for the pharmacy profession (leadership and pharmacy operations).

Together, these components equip graduates to ensure the safe, effective, and responsible use of medicines and to improve patient health outcomes.

Through integrated theory, simulation, and direct patient contact, students transition from knowledge-based learning to action-based patient service, ultimately becoming capable and compassionate pharmacy practitioners.
