A HEARTY WELCOME TO THE SASBCP VIRTUAL CONFERENCE 2022
On behalf of the conference organizers, North-West University, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2022 South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (SASBCP) Conference, the society’s first virtual interactive/live meeting. The theme of our conference, namely “Pharmacology: Needs and activities across the South African Landscape”, will reappraise the “state of wellness” of pharmacological teaching and research across the different academic institutions in South Africa. The objective is to provide a platform to share and learn from one another’s experiences, good and bad, identify where we want to be over the coming years and, as a collective, move forward to that goal.
By bringing together the best of local talent, including young up-and-coming scientists and educators as well as established academics across the broad discipline of pharmacology, and in collaboration with carefully selected international experts, SASBCP Virtual 2022 will identify, discuss and mobilize solutions to current and future challenges in the pharmacological sciences. The congress includes purposefully identified sessions that will promote interaction among trendsetters in both the pre-clinical and clinical sciences, as well as nourish young post-graduate students with cutting edge lectures on various topics.
It is our hope that SASBCP Virtual 2022 will foster local and international relations and collaborations between senior academics across South Africa, while most importantly to address the immediate and projected health needs of the country.
